Pipe repair addresses individual burst, leaking or damaged sections without replacing the whole system.
Supply pipe fails in patterns. Galvanized steel corrodes from the inside until pressure drops and the water runs rust-colored. Polybutylene, installed widely in Florida homes between the late 1970s and the mid 1990s, degrades chemically and splits without warning. Copper in aggressive water develops pinhole leaks, often several within the same year. Once failures start repeating, patching each one in turn costs more over time than replacing the system.
A whole-home repipe runs fresh supply lines to every fixture, usually through walls and attic space rather than back under the slab, and finishes with drywall repair and pressure testing. It is disruptive for a couple of days and permanent afterward. Single repairs still make sense for isolated damage: a line burst by a nail or a freeze, a slab leak in an otherwise healthy system, or a hose bibb or shutoff valve that failed.

Polybutylene supply pipe has a known failure history and cannot be reliably repaired. We replace the system in a modern material and remove the risk of a sudden split behind a finished wall.

Hillsborough County's aquifer-sourced water is mineral-heavy, and that hardness scales the inside of supply lines while accelerating wear on valves and fixture connections. Brandon and Valrico homes built between roughly 1978 and 1995 are prime candidates for polybutylene supply pipe. Slab-on-grade construction, the norm across the area, also means a failing supply line under the floor becomes a repipe question rather than a patch.
